Last week, I planned to visit Martin Library in York with York Daily Record/Sunday News books editor Sarah Chain.
We decided to promote the visit as a meet-up/office hours/please-come-talk-to-us event in the Sunday News, ydr.com and social media channels.
Deb Sullivan, York County Libraries community relations director, even put our visit on the calendar.
From 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., we parked our carcasses on the second floor of the downtown building.
Early on, we had a visitor who drove from Spring Grove to recommend a local author for Sarah, who puts together the books page.
BOOM.
Instastory.
We had one more visitor who stopped by to chat after that.
Sure, we didn’t have a line of people waiting for us.
But that, again, is not the point.
In the downtime, we got work done.
Around 12:30 p.m., information services librarian Laura O’Grady and director of operations Brian Grimm took us on a tour of “unseen” parts of the library.
I hope Sarah found value in getting outside her cube.
Now, I just need to find some other people to drag along on ideaLab shenanigans.
Any takers?
