I know, I know. I just spent an entire column making fun of executive glamour shots.
But I couldn’t resist taking a new reporter headshot on Thursday after finding out I’d need to send one in for Digital First Media’s ideaLab.
I mean, really? What’s a girl to do?
Surely, I couldn’t send in this monstrosity:
Anywho, I took Thursday super seriously. It was high school yearbook photo day all over again.
I packed a plastic grocery bag full of the essentials: eyeshadow, eyeliner, tinted moisturizer, blush, a comb, and my hair straightener, pictured below plugged into the surge strip at my desk.
Anyways, the moral of this story is: Even though your column headshot might run 1-inch-by-1-inch in black and white, that’s no excuse to not look your best.
This is the digitalĀ age, and I don’t want anyone thinking I have a face for newspaper.
